Introduction

ControlEdge Transition is an online tool that provides automatic conversion of source PLC5 and SLC 500 system's ladder logic and configuration items to their Honeywell ControlEdge PLC CPM equivalents.

The tool accepts input files, which are extracted from the source PLC5 or SLC 500system, and generates XML and CSV output files that can be imported into Honeywell ControlEdge Builder for further process.

You can perform site survey, generate bidding reports, and pre- and post-migration reports from this tool. These reports and survey helps you to understand the entire process and gives you options where you can customize while migrating.

Due to the automated translation process, it reduces project engineering cost, time required for performing the migration, minimizes dependency on a highly skilled engineering team, and turnaround time during the bidding process.

A list of tasks that must be performed to convert source PLC5 or SLC 500 database to ControlEdge PLC CPM system using ControlEdge Transition is given in the table below:

1	Create New Project	Log in to the ControlEdge Transition and create a new project in ControlEdge Transition.	A new project is created and you are ready to begin.
2	Perform Site Survey	Optional. You can perform a Site Survey using ControlEdge Transition to collect site information.	Site survey is complete and the report is generated.
3	Import Source Data	Import the source PLC5 or SLC 500 system files to ControlEdge Transition. You can drag and drop the files or upload by selecting them.	Source PLC5 or SLC 500 system files are imported to ControlEdge Transition as input files.
4	Assign I/Os	Map source PLC5 or SLC 500 system I/Os to their equivalent ControlEdge I/Os. Perform I/O allocation – Choose one of three methods available - Manual, Smart, and One to One – to allocate I/Os in ControlEdge Transition.	Source system PLC5 or SLC 500 I/O files are assigned to their equivalent ControlEdge I/Os.
5	Generate Bidding Reports	Generate six bidding reports that provide a clear picture of the source system's configuration details and the new hardware needed to perform the migration.	Six bidding reports are generated.
6	Perform Pre-migration Activity	It bulk converts source PLC5 or SLC 500 system’s addresses to variables based on your requirements. ControlEdge converts all data files into separate variable.	The source system’s addresses are converted to variables in ControlEdge Transition.
7	Generate Pre-migration Reports	Generate reports that will help you understand the source system’s logic.	Pre-migration reports are generated.
8	Perform Migration	Converts source system data to ControlEdge PLC CPM format.	Source system I/Os and FBs are mapped to their ControlEdge equivalents. XML and CSV files that are ready to be processed by ControlEdge Builder are generated.
9	Perform Post-Migration Tasks	Import the output files that is XML and CSV format files generated by ControlEdge Transition into ControlEdge Builder to perform configuration and logic changes, if required. Download the final logic into ControlEdge controller.	Control Builder is used to perform configuration and logic changes and to download them to ControlEdge PLC CPM.
10	Generate Post-Migration Reports	Generate reports that provide comparison data between source PLC and ControlEdge PLC CPM systems, migration status after the migration has been completed.	Reports are generated to find comparison data and migration status. .
